ADSB-Out Verification Flight

UAVionix ADSB-Out?

I have a 601XL and just bought my ADSB-out from UAVionix @ Sun and Fun.For anyone looking at the SkyBeacon, they only sell the TSO'd version (with Florida tax it was $1975). The experimental, non-TSO'd is no longer available (at least not available from UAvionix). However, only the TSO'd version qualifies for the $500 FAA rebate-Which IS still available as of Friday night when I reserved my rebate.Are there other 601 owners who already have this system installed? lycoming O-235L2C oil pressure sensor location

For any aircraft model using the Lycoming O-235:When I sensored up my engine I used a threaded "port" (not sure if that is the right term) on the accessory case just above the right magneto for the oil pressure sensor on my Dynon D-180.I just happened to be browsing through the Owner's Manual for the O-235L2C and noticed that Lycoming astricked the L model and it says "Front of Engine". for oil pressure location. Replacement Brake linings

replacement interval of braided fuel lines

when I built my XL, I replaced the "stock" rubber fuel lines with braided stainless steel coated lines that I fabricated.After reading the Service Letter that Zenair published last February (02/05/2018 Rev. 0)under item #3 "Fuel Lines in Airframe" I started to wonder if there is a replacement interval for these fuel lines? Flap actuator motor wanted

Hello AllMy 601XL (Ser # 6-5803) has the old worm gear-style  flap actuator motor with the micro switches. As I understand, a year or two after I bought my kit, Zenith replaced the worm gear flap motor with a linear style (Zac part # DE12-17W41M05FS) as well as a redesigned flap actuator (6B19-11)I'd like to put the "new" style motor in my plane and do away completely with the hard to find and expensive micro switches. Hello All,Well I got a bit of a rude awakening when I went to renew my insurance.For the past three years I've been able to finance my premiums with a down payment.Unfortunately Marsh and McLennan Agency (Overland Park, KS) has recently decided that they will only finance premiums >$2500.00. Dynon D-180 HSI display

OK, I'll admit my ignorance and ask that you do not snicker too loudly as you (hopefully) help me figure this out;I have a D180 installed in my 601xlI just recently wired my panel mounted Garmin 296 into the D180 to provide HSI information.When I Fly with HSI displayed it looks like I'm getting almost all of the information I am supposed to get;TRK, SPD, and DTW are displayed on the top right, "GPS" is displayed on the top left. Connecting My Garmin 296 to Dynon D-180

Borescope inspection

So I'm nearing my third annual condition inspection next month and I'm trying to get all the bits and pieces in place beforehand this time (new air filter, spark plug gaskets, etc) and I've been reading a lot on the value of borescope inspections of the cylinders.

I'm not sure about replacing compression testing entirely, but I did get a good quality Wi-Fi borescope (depstech model wf010 with a 90 degree mirror attachment) from Amazon for $49

I dont know about mtow but it will take the 0-235 no problem and you will get that 115kts every day might even scrape close to the 120 if every thing is going your way

Brad, I read your question to Sebastian on increasing the Gross Weight. As the Manufacturer, you are allowed to set all Specifications on an Experimental, this includes stuff like Vh (max continuous). If you want to set your Gross Weight to 1,450, it's up to you. I believe the Upgraded XL will easily handle the load, it gets down to performance.

As for being a Private Pilot and not needing to worry about flying as a Sport Pilot, let me tell you a story. 2 years ago I went from being a Private Pilot to a Sport Pilot in about an hour after a visit to my new Cardiologist. An accidental discovery of an ascending aortic anyuerism not only saved my life, but put an end to Private Pilot for the foreseeable future. I was released to fly as a Sport Pilot by my Cardiologist about a year after the surgery.

If you set the Gross Weight over 1320 and have any number of medical issues, you could lose your Medical and not have an airplane to fly until you resolve the issue with FAA Aeromedical. I am currently pursuing a Special Issuance Medical, 7 months so far. In the interim, I can fly as a Sport Pilot. I used to think Sport Pilot was for old guys in their 60's. Shit happens.
