My Zenith CH750 is effectively grounded by installing Zenair 1450 amphibian floats. Two take offs and two landings with the front gear wheels siezed in the straight ahead position. The top & bottom nylon (UHMW)used as a front bearing welds itself to the each other and siezes. I was able to land safely with the wheels locked in the straight ahead position.

Please be perfectly clear Zenith in the USA is not the same company as Zenair in Midland, Ontario, Canada.      Zenith makes both my CH601HD and CH750 aircraft. Both aircraft are wonderful and perform exactely as advertised. Absolutely no complains with Zenith's products or customer service. Zenair Midland is the float manufacturing company.

Wait a minute...the WHOLE office closes up for two weeks for holidays???? WTF?  What if an employee doesn't want this particular time off? Or were they all gone to Oshkosh???

That's pretty sad! :(

BUT...that photo is CLASSIC, glad you still seem to have a sense of humor over the whole thing! Have you tried calling Zen in the states? They must have some input on this problem?

If I decide on the Zen floats, I'll definitely see if I can put a real bearing of some sort in that area, although I still think replacing the nyloids with greased up stainless would probably work...hopefully by then, couple of years at most, they will have fixed this OBVIOUS untested part!!!

Bob,
I was at Airventure yesterday and saw an anphib float at the Zenith booth, it looked like it had one nylon plate on the bottom and one aluminum plate on the top.
Bummer you are grounded until they get back from vacation.
Thanks for keeping us informed, I think several of us are interested in the outcome!

Would an aluminium washer between the UHMW layers solve this problem?

Makes me wonder how much developement work was done by Zenith?
