The NavWorx ADS600-EXP is subject to an AD that mandates the unit be disabled or removed from the aircraft by January 19, 2018.  Today, I received FAA approval to disable the ADS600-EXP transmitter and continue to use the unit as an ADS-B receiver only.  Obviously, this is only attractive to those who just want a receiver (and perhaps want to wait 'til closer to the 2020 mandate to purchase a full in-and-out system) or those who happen to have an ADS-B out UAT such as the uAvionix skyBeacon and need a receiver for full in-and-out capability.  The details are in my blog here.  Since this has just been approved, I would caution anyone attempting this AMOC to carefully test the ADS600-EXP in conjunction with all other electronic devices on the plane to rule out the possibility of interference!

Update:

I tested the AMOC'd NavWorx ADS600-EXP receiver in conjunction with a uAvionix ADS-B skyBeacon and discovered the NavWorx created interference (Baro Alt errors) on the FAA Public ADS-B Performance Reports (PAPR).  Although the NavWorx is no longer transmitting, there are theories it might still be energized by transponder squawks or there are some transmitter components still energized enough to create local interference even though it is not actively transmitting.

I assembled a Stratux dual channel ADS-B receiver with VK-162 external GPS and AHRS and remotely mounted it where the NavWorx had been installed, utilizing the same power and antenna connections.  The VK-162 GPS was placed on the 750's glareshield at the base of the windshield where the NavWorx GPS antenna had previously been.  It all worked great and as expected, there was no interference with the skyBeacon since the Stratux has no transmitter capability at all.

It has also occurred to me that if another ADS-B out device that is "hard-wired" to the transponder, such as the Garmin GDL-82, is used, there might not be an interference problem with the NavWorx receiver since the Garmin is not relying on wireless transmissions.  I have a friend who is going to test this theory soon.
