Jock Struthers' Zenith STOL at the Short Take-Off and Landing competition in New Zealand (held this past Saturday). Fifty five pilots from around the country competed in four weight class categories. Zenith ZMX won the light sport category averaging 18 meters (less than 60 feet) to get airborne! Scores were counted as the total of shortest distance for takeoff and for a full stop landing over two circuits. The STOL CH 701 winning score was 50.4 meters.

I've watched your stol competition video many times Jock. It's possibly the best example of STOL ops in a 701 that I've seen. Do you have any tips to offer? What speed do you approach at? Do you normally approach power on or off?
Shay.
