Build It! Fly It! The Companion Website to the Zenair Newsletter

Jeff Fortune sent us these great photos of his amphibious STOL CH 801 in the Abaco Islands (the Bahamas).

Jeff reports: "The plane is flying great. Quickest liftoff from salt water is about 12 seconds... lands at ~38 knots."

Jeff explains that the custom amphib floats are equipped with "detachable pontoons that, when joined, create our dingy. This is the most fantastic addition for enjoying the islands and for coming ashore when moored. It has no noticeable impact on flight." Wow - That's innovation!

Ahh... the white sands of the Bahamas:

I've invited Jeff to join us on Zenith.Aero to share more info about float flying in the Bahamas and about the dingy / kayak.
