Just Started 650

Just finished rudder. Starting on rest of tail kit. Looking forward to building process and many tips and assistance from experienced builders on this site. Don't be fooled by picture. I am now retired from USAFR and working as electrical engineer. Finally have time to get project underway.

I am building by components. I have only ordered the tail kit. Next will be the fuselage kit. I talked to Caleb at Zenith and he says the upgrade is now part of the wing kit and the plans are being updated. I asked when the plans would be completely updated and he said by the end of this year. This is alright with me since I will not be building wings until next year anyway. I also have the HomebuiltHELP construction videos which are a great help in seeing how everything goes together and what things should look like as I am progressing. Also has some helpful tips which saves me time. So far I am enjoying the build. Plus since the weather is so hot here in Texas, I do not feel the need to get my hot air balloon out and go flying every weekend.

I'm glad to see a new start on a 650. These seem to be rare events. Are you kit or plans building, and if kit, do you have the new one with the upgrade installed?
