I am still getting your email kicked back by my eMail Server as undeliverable
Floyd

This is just a short note to all to wish all a Merry Christmas and hopefully a better New Year especially for the 601XL/650 builder and owners. The time to plan for next year is here and what we as group would want to see and do for next year as for continued meeting and discussion format. The last meeting of the year there was some lively discussion but the group was smaller than usual, but the weather was bad that weekend.

I am wishing for a Garmin Area 550 or an Bendix/King AV8OR ACE but since I can't make up my mind which one I want, it will be next year before I get one of the two units. I'll bet you can get a Garmin 495 or 496 at a reduced price after the first of the year. I would appreciate any advice from the group.

The 601XL and 650 members have been silent on the upgrade and if any one has started the pre work while waiting on their upgrade kit from Zenith or if any of the plans builders have been able to use the released and revised document form Zenith to fabricate the upgrade parts Please share with the group concerns and problems that you encounter because this knowledge can help the group. There is a live Chat Room every Monday evening around 8:00 EDT or 7:00 CDT and the link is http://www.mykitairplane.com/ I have not ever signed into the chat to see how the group works. I may tonight and see if it is worth while to monitor.

We could use the blog feature of zenith.aero but that not the same as online chat for free exchange of idea.

Well this started as a short note but not unless I close the note.

See you'll next year.

Hello to All,

This is just a short reminder of our meeting this Saturday at Rio Concho at T67 Hicks Airfield. We normally start between 08:30 to 09:00. Hope to see all there, Let's hope for a good turnout and that we can get updates from most of the members on what they have been doing this last month. I have been busy but mostly on honey do's and not much work on the bird.
Hey lets welcome two new members to our list, they are Jim Ley and Chet Chesnut .

Good Morning Fellow Owners and Builders,

It was a busy weekend for all the Zenith community, first with another 601XL crash in Ark. and then the FAA issued a Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin CE-10-08 (Nov.7,2009): for the S-SLA CH601 XL/CH650. The SAIB must be applied to all AMD factory build CH 601XL/CH 650 S-SLA. and is strongly recommend by the FAA and the Zenith Aircraft Company on all E-SLA 601XL and CH 650. This has the effect of grounding all CH 601XL/CH650 until the mods are made on our birds. I half suspected there would be some type of mod coming from Zenith after the NTSB report and that is why I waited to order the wing kit. This does not effect the older CH 601 and none of the CH 700 series of Zenith Aircraft.

We have not yet agreed on a format for future meeting but I believe the group still feels there is a value in our breakfast meeting. I believe with all the news of the last couple of days it might be a good time for a meeting. I know the holidays are just ahead so my thought is that the next two Saturday of Nov,14Th or the 21st may be the last chance this year for all of us to get together. I am sending this note to check with everyone to see if there is an interest and then we can decide on a date. I am going to keep building. Zenith has posted on their site all the information about the SAID and the Zenith Aircraft plans to address all the concerns regarding the CH601XL/CH650. Here is a web link http://www.zenithair.com/news/ntsb-astm-4-09a.html.

This is just a short note, last Wed. night at the my local meeting of the
EAA I had a chance to meet with Mel Asberry a local DFW are FAA Designated
Airworthiness Representative. He did a presentation of of the Light-Sport
Aircraft and Amateur Built FAA rules. He talked inspection of problems he
looks for when doing an inspection of An amateur-built airplane. The plane
must as ready to begin flight test with only inspection plates and other
inspection opening off. He said area he found problems where edge distance
for rivets and bolts, thread clearance on nuts, Cotter keys not installed,
jam nuts not tight, cable ends. These are things that can be easily
overlooked in building our airplanes. He likes to talk about airplanes and
building airplane, he was an auto mechanic by trade before becoming an A&P
Mechanic, EAA Technical Counselor, EAA Flight Advisor, as well as A FAA
Wayne still having problem with your email
