STOL CH 701 Main Spring Gear Inspection / Polyurethane Rubber

Posted on February 23, 2016 at 2:00pm 0 Comments

Here's a brief overview of the pre-flight of the main spring gear of the Zenith STOL CH 701 - to make sure that the aluminum spring gear is properly tightened between the two polyurethane spacers (on both sides).  This is a quick and easy item to check for regularly (and especially after a rough landing):

I recently visited Bob B in Arizona to perform the first flight of his Zenith STOL CH 701.

Below are a couple videos of me inspecting and test flying this new customer-built STOL CH 701 from a Zenith kit. I hope you find them useful.

Hi Roger. I'm  trying to pick an engine and wanted to pick your brain on the UL350i and iS. I'd  love the iS but fuel availability may be an issue. How do the 2 engines compare in real world performance?

Roger, I will be attending the open house at Flight Crafters on sunday and camping at Sun-N-Fun all week.  I would like to take a demo flight in the 750 at the open house.  We will be at Zephyr hills around 12:00.  Do we need to schedule a time for the demo flight, or are just working people in as time permits.

Thanks, Mike

Hey Roger,
Thanks for the ride. Made me even happier with my decision to go with the 750 over the 701.

Hi Roger
I just added a video of you taking me for a flight back in March 2008, I hope you remember my wife, 3 y/o son, mother inlaw and myself. We really enjoyed our visit and thank You, Sebastien, Shirley and all the staff in the factory for making the journey worth while.

P.S. Sorry I spelt your last name wrong on the video.

Roger, I researched the 9AUHM aircraft ID number and related it to the flag on the tail. If the flag on the tail is the primary indicator the a/c would be from Paraguay, however if the number and letters are primary the P is Brazil or Korea. I am wondering from looking at the photo if it may be a composite made up of portions from various A/C as the gear is different as well as the tail and fuselage, only the wings appear to be Zenith like, it is definately NOT a Zenith product in my humble opinion. It was interesting however that someone thinks so highly of zenith products that they need to copy. Clear skies and strong tailwinds.
