My tires & tubes are identical to the ones you have. Being slightly undersize the tube is easier to assemble without pinching it joining the two rim halves. So far it all has assembled very straight forward.... before cutting the holes and installing the adel clamps and rubber grommets for the hydraulic lines label the area inside your float "right float", "inboard" and "outboard" sides with a sharpie. Your working upside down in a wheel well and is you get disoriented and drill a hole in the wrong location your "AAarrghh" yell will be heard all the way to Canada.

Hi Bob! I'm following your float construction with interest as I try to catch up with you. Having a lot of fun doing it and learning a lot from your postings and helpful advice. I, too have the nut and washer which came with the tube and was wondering what to do with it. I asked the Dresser guys at Sun & Fun and they weren't sure. Thanks for clearing this up for me.  One other question I had, which the Dresser folks couldn't answer on the field, is what size tube goes with the tires we have for mains on the floats.  I searched the internet quite thoroughly and couldn't find a size chart.  Do you recall the size of your tire/tubes?  The tires/tubes Zenith sent me are Aero Classic 380X150-5/15X6.00-5 tire and a 5.00-5 tube from Aircraft Spruce.  I was concerned because Zenith had to backorder the tubes and sent them separately to me, and while I know the tubes are supposed to be slightly undersize and 'stretch" to fit, I can't seem to find out if you use a 5.00-5 tube in a 6.00-5 tire.  I did ask Nick at Zenith about this, but he hasn't responded to the question as of yet. Do you have the same size tires/tubes? Thanks, Frank

Your correct ! I just got an e-mail from Nick at Zenair confirming these parts are not used in this application.b

Hi Bob,

In another application the nut and washer are used to keep the stem from going back into the rim or get squeezed by the rim and cut the tube. It stops the tube from moving while inflating it so that it wont get cought by the rim.

I would take it off and leave the tube by itself.
