I'm not much of a blogger but could answer question if posted.

These ram mounts were the tab-tite version "RAM Tab-Tite™ Universal Clamping Cradle for 10" Screen Tablets WITH HEAVY DUTY CASES". There is also an ipad mini version "RAM TAB-TITE™ Universal Clamping Cradle for the iPad mini WITH CASE, SKIN OR SLEEVE"

I would suggest a typical gps and standard instruments or installed Efis instead of the ipad. As you are flying in mostly VFR conditions the ipad may not be bright enough for EfIs.

I recommend The trutrak system for EMS with wifi as it is great on the ipad and works well. The black background and colorful instrument shows up well even with bright sunlight.

Just make sure not to many apps are running in the background.

Hi Dirk,

What is the type of RAM case used (part #)...I checked the RAM website couldn't find it . Also, do you know if they make one for the IPAD mini with the SURVIVAL case also...I already have a MINI and your panel look like my NEXT PROJECT...Only the left seat will get flight instruments and the right seat will get the NAV instrument (GPS).

Thanks for any info you can provide...And I would also encourage a lenghtly blog post ....For the not-so-computer oriented pilots ...

Regards,

Norm

This is very interesting. I'd like to encourage you to write a longer blog post detailing what you learned doing this iPad project and include links to resources that you used to get to this point. Also would be interested in your experience with your airworthiness inspection. How is flight testing going? What would you do differently?

Mounting. We used ram mounts made for the iPads in the survival cases.
The ems is from trutrakflightsystem with the ts83 wifi module. We purchased the probe kit for the 4cl lycoming engine (works on the 0-200). Trutrak as an ipad app in the App Store called imonitor ems.

The AHRS is from levil aviation. It has the pitot static plumbing so we could display IAS and alt, this unit is a wifi unit and power inputs are a simple 12v connection, the app is ihud remote that is compatible with the AHRS.

Please... more detailed information on how you set up the EFIS and EMS to work on i-Pads?  What sensors? ... program or ap?  Wiring?  how mounted?  or email me direct at striplic(at)tetric.com  I am very interested.  My last project was an RV7A with an MGL Odyssey, but there were many connections and sensors and although a great instrument, I can't afford another on my 701.  Thanks!!!
