I added access panels behind each fuel tank. I did these ones with Rivnuts. If you haven't used Rivnuts, they are wonderful. Far easier and quicker than nut plates.

I hope my experience is better than yours, but obviously time will tell.  I use the 'keyed' variety of rivnut that is designed to avoid that problem.

The first time you try to remove a screw from a spinning rivnut, you will understand why we use nutplates.
