Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
Hello All,
I bought an O/H O-235L2C and now have been gradually escalating the break-in schedule up to full power (ground run). The max static RPM I acheived on a cooler than standard day (it was ~58 degrees) with a Field elevation of 90' and a Catto 3-bladed prop was ~2160 RPM. I realize that there may be very few identical engine/prop combinations out there but does this sound reasonable for a static run-up?
Also, I have a Dynon D180 with EMS. Since the values for oil temp/pressure/tach can be user set, I am trying to "decide" where I need to put the bottom of the green arc for oil temp. I know Lycoming specifies a temp of ~150F for "continuous operation" (paraphrasing the numbers as I don't have the O/H manual here at work with me at the moment) ideally I want the 150 to be the middle of the green arc. where should it start?
One final question for you Lycoming owners.
The Dynon "set" a yellow arc on the Tach at around 1800 RPM with green above and below. I honestly can't remember if I put the yellow arc there by accident when I was setting it up, or if that was "preloaded" by Dynon. Do they know something that I don't? I looked in the Lycoming operating handbook and O/H manual and saw nothing about a cautionary range inside the green
Thanks
Brad Cohen
