Hey all, my Viking 130. Cowl is installed on my 650 now :-) Jan says the best option now is to replace the hinge pins with smaller diameter ones (about .015 smaller).

I've been looking but can't find any that are about .075 ". I looked at Spruce, Wicks, McMaster, google etc.

 What/where have you all bought?

Thanks - Jim

I chucked the hinge pin in a drill and then ran sandpaper & scotchbrite up and down the length.  Then lubricate the hinge pin with ordinary candle wax.  Slides in smooth.

Thanks guys.  I have an inquiry in to Loos Co for the wire (can't find it for sale anywhere) and will try Pat's technique in the meantime.

McMaster has .075 Stainless Steel spring-back piano wire in a 25-foot coil for $7.25. See the following link: https://www.mcmaster.com/#9495K96

Thanks!  It just came in the mail yesterday :-)

So, this type of wire can be straightened out?

The wire is in a coil...not on a spool. When you cut the restraining bands the wire will straighten out.

CORRECTION:  In the .075 diameter, the coil is 16-feet long

That's enough for two airplanes.  Sounds like a great reason to start thinking about a future "next project"...   :-)
