It seams at some point I read about the 650 nose gear leg being longer at some point. 
Is that true and if so, was the reason to remove the need for the stop plate.

yes richard, the nose gear tube is a couple of inches longer on the 650 the main spring also has a slightly different bend resulting in about 2in taller, and the wheels not quite as far apart, the adjustments could be of some advantage on a rough grass strip.  Let me know if you need the measurments , my prints are at the hanger about 20 miles away. I'm going there this week and would be glad to get them  for you
