Hi,Bob!
If you look at the other float pictures,you will see that that plate is NOT the main attachment point.There is another plate going to the bottom of the float which carry any landing loads to the bottom of the floats

If this attachment plate to gear leg was made of stainless steel in would be much stronger. The plate could have been made in a "U" shape with the gear leg bolted between the "U" plate sides. THe PJ floats on my Challenger used stainless "U" bracket and a single AN3 bolt through the gear leg to mount the floats.
