I used the Tempest TAF-L oil filter adaptor. Spruce part number 08-00631. For oil cooling, I installed Cessna 150 p/n 0450502-22 and -23 baffle assemblies under the center of the crankcase, and cut a slot below the spinner for the air inlet. I also have a blast tube on the oil screen housing (oil screen is removed when spin on filter is installed) as on the C-172 with the O-300 engine. With OAT at 92 degrees F, and high humidity, I see oil temperature at 204 F. It was my desire to avoid the additional failure points associated with an oil cooler installation. I rarely fly when OAT is above 85F.

I’ve had an F&M oil filter adapter on my 750 STOL for over 9 years & 860+ flight hours now. I do not have an oil cooler. Oil temps run approx.180 in winter and 195 in summer, highest occurs flying dual & max weight in 95°+ air temps where I may see 200-205° after a long climb. With a Cruzer, which will be 20 mph faster, you should not see any problems with oil temps running without an oil cooler. Getting your baffling and cowling well sealed up tweaked correctly during phase one. Adding a small turned down lip at your cowl exit helps with both oil and cylinder head temps a lot. Keep it simple and as light as possible. Good luck with your completion.
