Zenith will ONLY send the bill of sale(for the faa) with the original purchaser of the kits Name on it. Even if you have them transfer the kit to your name while building, they will NOT put your name in it. Just a heads up.

That does not make sense and does not appear to be accurate.

Does that mean the incomplete kit should be discarded if the original owner was unable to complete the project and decides to sell it to someone else? What is your source?

Here what i found on EAA which by the way has a detail info as to the FAA forms and requirements:

"There is no reason why the sale of a partially completed project cannot be accomplished with a dated and signed Aircraft Log Book entry. If no Aircraft Log Book had been started, a written receipt briefly describing the acquisition, dated and signed in ink, should suffice."  To see full article:

If you dont have a bill of sale from the original kit buyer then you have broken the chain the FAA requires for registration. And that is accurate. My source is been there done that and dealt with the FAA over the same scenario.Done.

Respectfully disagree. Your situation must have been different.

I have done a lot of research and have not seen any source anywhere whatsoever validating your concerns.

EAA is THE most valid source involving matters relating to these types of aircraft. I have already included the link above which covers buying and selling kit planes including incomplete projects for everyone out there to read if they wish.

Per that article your assertions are inaccurate. Done.
