Hi Bob.  I have been emailing you on the address you emailed from, but it keeps bouncing back after a couple of days.   Any thoughts?

Cheers

Just getting home from a kidney stone bout ... send E-mail info and I'll get pix and and as much data as I can find to you.  Project was part of building my new home so I have to break out some of the hangar/shop expenses ...  built by a local guy who really allowed me to work with him on the hangar door design/build/installation.  I did the plumbing and most of the electrical work myself (After my home-builder installed the distribution box and ran the water/sewerage lines to the slab.  Biggest expenses slab (done by my builder when he poured the house slab) and the steel (caught Trump's battle with China ... added $3K).  All totaled I think around $26-27K with me doing a lot of work.  Ksatter@verizon.net (972) 795-0867

Hi Bob,

the grove gear is built 7075 if I remember correctly. Myself an another 701 flyer friend of mine had our 6061 gear sagging after only a year (we do lots of off field landings).  We’re not abusive or aggressive pilots but off field is rougher of course. The grove gear is tough and can take the type of landings we do. I saw a pic of a 701 that was stalled in, the fuselage, wings, an nose gear were all bent..... not the grove gear.  I would’ve got the grove from the beginning if I’d have known.

Thanks. If you are building from scratch with new materials, i would definately go with Alaska Bob.

Mine are basically a box, with built up sides to attahe to the spindle, and a too thick 3/8" uhmw ski.

I probably broke the rubber pedal by trying to turn the nose ski with too much skeg. Watch the skeg size and orientation especially on the nose ski.

Skis are put away but will try to find other pics.

Hello Bob,

I was planning on making a copy of the Alaska ski plans floating around here .... but i had a lot of scrap material and odds and ends that i designed my own while building them. They are quite heavy, made of a 6x6x 3/8" hollow structural square and builtup beams of 2x1x.125 angles .... an odd size leftover from a scrap metal dealer.  They are very robust, but very heavy. I would recommend building the ones from plans ..... i think its from bob snow in Alaska?

I will post some pics later.  Cheers.

Hi Bob

I am almost done on my 701 in Billings. Call me at 670-7695 and we'll go from there.
