Getting ready to install the Viking header tank on the Cruzer.  While in the "hell hole", it occurred to me that it MAY make a difference as to which side to install it.  The weight is what I'm considering (2.5 gallons plus the tank weight).  I weigh 220 and my wife is considerably smaller.

If I'm flying with her, or if I'm solo, would it make sense to install it on the passenger side of the fuselage to help balance weight?  The videos all seem to show the installation behind the pilot.  Or is this a non-issue?

Thanks.

We found it easier to mount on the pilot side of our 750 STOL because of the flaperon motor location, and the aircraft seems well balanced and handles fine.   But in our case the pilot is only 130lbs.

Lucky pilot!

My son, not me.

Yeah, I wondered about the motor.

Allan:

Your reasons are the same rationale for my decision mounting header behind the passenger seat.

I have done that and the flap motor is not a problem.

Please note the benefit of access panel on passenger fuse that allows a 250 lb access to header.

The tribulations of working in that hell hole in the belly can not be underestimated.

I purchased an aftermarket kit from Wisconsin that was perfect.

Most of the pictures are on my Zenith page. Google zenith or experimental access kits and it will show up. All of the hardware and instructions come with the "Race" kit. Some kid has taken over for Race.

Thanks, Dr. Terry.  I saw the pics on your page.  What are the dimensions and would you do anything differently?

No, I found nothing needed changing, I just cut the fuse after I had the kit. Approximate size is in the picture. Go to mykitairplane.com from MIke now that Race retired. I think it was LAD?

Thanks, perfect.

I made a pilot side access, for the header tank. Makes things so much easier to get to and inspect.

I also will create an access.  Do you have a picture and dimensions, please?

Terrence Hall installed a header tank access door on his 750 Cruise.  I'll ask him to chime in.

Thanks..
