Hi, I had just recently purchased a CH 701 with Pegastol wings.  The aircraft requires some TLC and a new powerplant so I haven't had a chance to fly it. For what I've read they seem to be a pretty good addition to the CH 701 even though they're no longer produced. Is they're anyone else who either has Pegastol wings or had flown them in the past?  Frank

Check out video of Sebastien Heintz flying a CH701 on amphib floats in Guadalope. That is a set of Pegastol wings on the CH701. You can tell because there is no jury struts and a split leading edge slat. Put the Rotax 912S in your CH701 and it should perform just like the CH701 in the video.

Thanks Bob, I'll check it out. Thanks Frank

Hi Frank - I am still at the test flying stage with my 701 and pegastol wings but it seems to be cruising comfortably at around 85 to 90 knots depending on power setting - which is about 5 to 10 knots faster than other 701s in the area. The slats "pop" in as speed increases through about 70 knots and come back out again as the speed reduces below 70 knots. My wings have the beefier 20 thou skins which adds a bit of a weight penalty. My empty weight with the Jabiru 3300 engine is 325kg (we're in metric down here). These wings are ok to 544kg gross - (1200 pounds).

Regards

Gary

Hi Gary, thanks for the info. I just recently purchased a CH 701 with Pegastol wings. I haven't flown the 701 as of yet. The aircraft had the Suzuki GEO engine but had lots of problems. I sold the engine and I just  purchased a 912 ULS and looking forward to getting the aircraft in the air. There's still alot of work(TLC) on the airframe to do so I'm hoping  to get it flying this summer.

My plastic fuel tanks are leaking and I'm planning to replace them with aluminum  tanks. Also, after reading a few comments from other 701 Pilots I think  a Header tank would be a good Idea. Your thoughts?

How do you find the STOL performance with the pegastol wings?

There's lots of questions considering there aren't alot of Pegastol 701 wing customers in North America.

Apperciate your comments, Frank

Frank - A few years back Larry Martin had built a 701 with Pegastol wings. He may still be tuned in to this site. He's got alot of experience in building these wings.

Chris

Thanks Chris, I'll try to contact him. Frank
