Final Approach 270 OSH with Tower Audio

Here's what the last 4 minutes of approach to Oshkosh Runway 270 look and sound like. This was opening day, July 25, 2011 at 0730. The sun is in your eyes this early and there is fog on Lake Winnebago. The famouse "rock your wings" is at 1:50. Cleared to land on the GREEN DOT. There was a flight of 5 RV's behind me. Tires chirp just a little short of the green dot. Pull off as soon as possible in to the grass on the left.

Dad found the tower audio archive on LiveATC.net. I synced it up on the Rock Your Wings point.

This is the coolest landing you will ever make. I encourage everyone to do it at least once. It's really not that hard.

Note the altitude on the GPS. The suction cup on the RAM mount equalized because of the high altitude/low pressure and it let go just as I began filming. It can be very startling if you are not looking at it when it does it. The Garmin GPS seems to be pretty tough. You just have to re-attach it at 8,000 ft or so to preclude it from doing it.

Here's my soft field approach to Riley's Roost. Note the FAA mandated 30 ft tree on the approach end. Hey, I'm a 601XL not a 701 or 750 but I did pretty good.
