After 7 years of construction, my Zenith STOL 750 took flight for the first time this weekend.

While it wasn't the prettiest of flying, the plane performed perfectly with no issues other than rpms being a little lower than I would like at WOT.

For landing I had a true crosswind which I failed to notice and hence the poor alignment with the runway at the end. I'll do better after some more time getting used to the controls.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments and most of all for not giving me crap for my high speed taxi turned low-speed takeoff. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's first flight stories.

Congrats.  Didn't realize Brawley was below sea level.

Paul,

A big congratulations on your first flight.  Its quite a feeling the first time the throttle goes forward and the bird begins to rise. You have accomplished what very few have done.  Enjoy the moment.
