What a sweet way to enjoy a first flight in a beautiful airplane - Patrick and Mary - you are so lucky and your videos are the inspiration that us builders really need - Thanks. Hope to see you soon at the big show.

The "woo hoo" by Mary on the grass field landing was priceless!

She loved it.

Our local EAA chapter's newsletter editor asked us if we could write an article about it, and Mary and I each wrote articles.  Hers was from a non-pilot spouses perspective.

Here's a link to that newsletter:  http://home.comcast.net/~petegavin/eaa25/eaa251307.pdf

Building an airplane is a big, expensive, and time-consuming project.  Continued support of the spouse is a key factor for success.  I believe that a critical part of getting (and keeping) the support of the spouse is to put a focus on the social aspect of aviation.  That gets a lot of the spouses involved, and when those kind of friendships start forming, it helps to keep them involved...

We try to host at least one big party a year (typically more, though) where we invite fellow builders, pilots, friends & neighbors to our house.  People are always good about bringing stuff, and a fun time is always had.  Other friends have started hosting social events, too.

5 years ago, it was mainly just the men (and a couple female pilots) who were getting together, but now the spouses are having as much fun as we are.
