I bet this is great fun, fun to fly and fun to watch,  but those who claim this kind of flying is legal in any EASA country without a special permit from the aviation authorities are wrong. Maybe US is different. Apart from specific professional flying, there are only two "standard" exceptions to the minimum altitude of 500ft: take off and landing. Following this rule, with a bush plane you can go low when checking the landing area but I guess this was not it...

The sports and civil aviation is under a microscope nowadays - a lot of discussion about safety, accidents and most of all about the pilots' attitude, for a reason.. Last summer we had a CPL pilot killing himself and his family with a low pass on a float plane, went too low... We should perhaps stop and think if this is the image of sport flying we (and Zenith) want to give?

No issue to myself, though, so please do not feel offended :)

§ 119 of Part 91 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR):

Anywhere: an altitude allowing a safe emergency landing without undue hazard to person or property on the ground;

Over Congested Areas: an altitude of 1,000 feet above the highest obstacle within a horizontal distance of less than 2,000 feet;

Over Populated Areas: an altitude of 500 feet AGL;

Over Open Water or Sparsely Populated Areas: an altitude allowing for a linear distance greater than 500 feet from any person, vessel, vehicle, or structure;

Sure are a lot of critiques out there.  Geez, it was not dangerous reckless, or against the law. reminded me of my "Low Level hops" in a A-4. I enjoyed, but music still sucks.

Perfectly legal--(sparsely populated)  ever land on sand bar, open desert, or any off airport spot? All the internet police, chill out.  Guy's having a good time, not endangering anybody, and is willing to share.  I like it !

Impressive, but unfortunately in our country that would be license revoked, period!!

Should have edited out the part where the car was on the road

Hmmm... Something my Gliding instructor put up above the bar for his students to ponder;

Truly superior pilots are those who use their superior judgment to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills.

also I like the following;

Airspeed, altitude or brains: Two are always needed to successfully complete the flight

Walt, I'm not talking about the people in the car.  I'm trying to get you to admit that you HAVE driven over the speed limit with others on the road. You HAVE ran a late yellow light that turned red, we ALL have.  Everyone is bitching about the risk taken in this video, fast and low with no regard for the others around, and that is the same risk we put other at when we speed or don't make a complete stop at a red light right hand turn.  It's all the same just a different vehicle.  If anyone is even gonna try to say that they have never broke the speed limit or ran a red light from the day they got their drivers license, I'll call BULLCHIT.  And there is no law that says you need to have regard for your own life Dave.  ......and that's it for me too.

Not fair, Jesse, they did not asked to be part of this. Neither does the family that gets center punched by the driver that runs the light or the speeder that all of us read about in the paper that takes out some kid.

..and that's it for me,

Walt Snyder
