There are a series of Cz drawings covering the composite U/C installation. It is not really a simple process to convert from the american U/C design. There are 0.063" 6061 frames to make up and install as well as 4130 steel supports and axel components. Wheels and brakes are also different. You could possibly adapt what you have. To do the mod the structure under the seats would need to be exposed and you would need the wings off and the fuselage upside down for access. If you want tro go ahead I could send detailed information to you.
g;day phill
when are you doing your panel can't wait to see it ,how you have done everything else it should look awesome,by the way i stuffed up my email address just use the old one
paul
I'll keep you posted on the CHTs etc once we get airborne. Still working through the final inspection and paper work here. No problems with temperatures during ground runnning and fast taxiing at this stage. I'm not expecting any cooling issues as there are a few local Jabiru engines set up with the cooling box arrangement and they have had no problems. One chap with a Fisher Dakota Hawk was at his wits end with cooling - threw the fibreglass ducts in the bin and went with conventional cooling box - problem solved!!
Phill, you're wasting your time building a better airplane, all you end up with is a better airplane :-)
Keep up the great work, it is worth the effort!

Hi Phill,
Thanks for the welcome.
I am in Rosewood (outer brisbane suburb) though fingers crossed I will be moving to Maryborough before Christmas (Hence the delay in ordering the kit). I have not ordered the how to build DVDs yet as I wanted to get some input from you guys as to their worth. I have an engines/airframe background and I work with a lot of avionics people but no sheetmetal workers. Learning from someonelses' experience is always better than walking the minefield alone.
Good luck with the 601 build they are a fast plane :)
Hi Phill - CHTs during ground running seem to stabilise around 140 to 145 degrees C after about 10 to 15 minutes. At the moment the front cylinders are running just a tad hotter than the rear. Will need to remove a bit more aluminium from the inlet area to rectify this but waiting until it's flying before doing anything more. Will add a few photos when I get a spare minute.
Gidday Phill
Yer,finally got it up briefly last sunday, had to rebuild damage caused before I got it,undercarriage and nosewheel attachmants. Only got 20mins in ,but was all good. Weather permitting,we're off for the day this weekend.
Hows your project coming along ?
I think I'm probably capable, but at this stage I don't think I have the patience needed.I could happily do it if I could build fulltime, but thats not likely to happen anytime soon. Not sure what I'd build,I'm reasonably new to this flying thing, imported a trike from Brisbane a bit over a year ago, love it ,but decided I now want to try 3 axis, hence the 701. I love being able to land on the beach or a farm strip, riverbed or wherever,so I gyess It would have to be something capable of that again, maybe 750,kitfox ,avid ,something like that. Your economy is still ticking over pretty well isn;t it ?
see you like chating to us farmers, not real sure what is going with the plugs ,but it ran like a bucket of shit ford, now it runs like a jabiru .the sky is still blue might go for a fly
I got a job for you ,open a napa store ,did you see those plug prices ,lucky buggers over there, all we have is peace and tranquilityand you can fly almost anywhere no questions asked
I'm not real sure ,but think we caught a feery across ,then drove up the beach to rainbow beach, then came out overland at the nortern end.
It will be quite an acomplishment building your own plane, not sure if I have the patience at this stage, maybe one day.
Have done the sheep and dairy farming thing for a big part of my life, spent the rest of it on dozers and diggers, but at present I'm building rotary dairy sheds and maintaining all within them.
What do you do for a crust over there ?
Gidday Phill
Yer its not a bad part of the country, certainly not far from sea to the alps, makes for interesting flying.
Guess they must have sold you Speights beer (my staple diet )not a bad drop aye. A few of the dark Aussie beers are good, but you can keep the rest.
Been to Aus 3 or 4 times now,Sis an brother in law own Brisbane crane trucks, have only got in as far as Mitchel and up to rainbow beach,so I guess I got close to your home. How far along are you with the 601 ?
Cheers Phil, .Its been perfect flying weather on this side of the island, not so flash on the other, but only got the 701 here last weekend so intend to give it a good once over before taking to the air.Its running a 582 rotax, seems to perform well though. What part of the big island do you live in ?
g'day phill well flying is so much fun ,but you probably dont know much about that,SO GET OFF YOUR ASS AND GET IT DONE.when are you shifting down here,my mark son is taking on a 800 cow dairy farm so if you want a job working in shit mud cold wet and sometimes fun and beautiful conditions
Phill, I'm mostly done with the Discrepancy list, last big thing is to attach the Data Plate. The airplane is about ready for some taxi tests. I plan on returning in 3 weeks for flight testing. It's also the windy season in Mountain Home, meaning days of 30+ mph. It tends to settle down in late May.
I do have a video camera and have planned on mounting and using to record. Since I've done a custom FWF, it will be the only way to prove if I have succeeded in creating a better FWF.
