My condolences to the Heintz Family. I had the honor to talk at length with him several times over the years at various venues, dinners and gatherings and it was always a pleasure. Many of his designs were not beautiful in the cosmetic sense but they were GORGEOUS in terms of functionality. I have always loved that about Chris and his designs - every part was located where it was and looked the way it looked because that met the design needs the best. I have always loved that about Chris and his designs - every part was located where it was and looked the way it looked because that met the design needs the best. His designs work, and work well - the hallmark of great designs by a brilliant designer. He had a long and productive life but was still taken from us too soon. He will be missed. Blue skys and tailwinds, Chris.
Sebastian:

Condolences on the loss of your father. I met him once at either OSH or Sun 'n Fun and had a short, but interesting technical conversation. I was impressed that someone only a few years older than I could accomplish so much. He spawned a multi-generational aviation legacy that I hope you and your siblings will carry forward.

How lucky we Zenith pilots are to have such a pioneering soul to thank for our adventures. I spoke briefly with Chris at OSH the year he was honored. I have a picture of us talking together, an experience I will not forget. At the banquet, I loved the story Chris told us all, about essentially "stuffing" several of his young "kids" into passenger side of his home-made two-seat aircraft and flying home from OSH without a working radio, which involved crossing Lake Michigan and an…

At the banquet, I loved the story Chris told us all, about essentially "stuffing" several of his young "kids" into passenger side of his home-made two-seat aircraft and flying home from OSH without a working radio, which involved crossing Lake Michigan and an international border crossing no less. Very much reminded me of my own father in my youth. Do what you need to with what you have.

Some people make a big positive difference in the world. I am thankful that Chris walked this earth and made his mark.

I'm in France with family right now, where we've been celebrating his life here (and via Zoom) with family, and have been deluged with messages from around the world thanking Chris for his positive influences on aviation. It's definitely gratifying to hear how he's positively impacted so many in aviation! I thank you for all your support and prayers during this time.
