I can't trim as the pre-drilled holes will then be to close to the edge of the flange. Trim to remove the holes and the skin is to 7 mm to short . Already emailed tech support, but I think I need to call.

That's unfortunate. Got any pictures?

You could...

1) Could trim the skin, which would cut off the predrilled holes, then just drill the holes yourself in the proper place?

2) Get a new skin sent out to you

Thanks for backing me up! I took care of it this afternoon. I'm waiting on tech support, I have an elevator top skin that is 3mm to long, according to the drawings and it overlaps the spar putting the predrilled holes in an unacceptable place. Anybody else run into this? Any solutions? Can't trim it because of the predrilled rivet holes. Arrgh....

It's not a huge deal to leave it as is, I would think. If you have the time at some point while waiting for a crate to arrive you can do it in your down time at that point. It'll cost you about 30 rivets and a little headache. Trust me, it won't be your only redo or mistake when making this plane. If it were me, I would fix it but that's just me.

I would think the main affect would be a very slight increase in the drag coefficient of the vertical tail. Seems like some airflow could get under the skin and inside the vertical tail and push against your forward motion. Maybe it increase your gas cost by $1.00 each fill up, ha :)
Hi Jacques: You have good eye…tag:zenith.aero,2019-06-27:2606393:Comment:6818652019-06-27T16:12:28.227ZBradford Drownhttps://zenith.aero/profile/BradfordDrown
Hi Jacques: You have good eyes. I took another look at the factory video of the rudder and went back and retraced my work. Page 6 of the build manual "slide the Nose Skin in between the Spar and the Rear Skin" ....so I did. Missed the drawing showing overlap on "outside" and page 12 instruction to overlap. Should I redo?

Looks like a nice rudder. I see in your picture, you tucked the leading edge rudder skin under the trailing edge rudder skin. I would think it should be the other way around for better airflow. Any thoughts on this comment?

Well....it might help if I kept the parts straight. I finished the "Rudder" and not the Elevator. Sorry about that.
