Slotted in the Savannah tank last night.  Fits like a dream!  I made up a couple of brackets fitted to the ribs to support the rear of the tank, clecoed on the front brackets that bolt to the tank, and ran fuel line through grommets in the tank channel and rib #1.

The tank feels well supported and pretty much immovable, and the top surface looks like it will be very close to the top skin.  I'll run a straight edge over the ribs and pack out the top of the tank with cork strips or something so the skin fits tight.

Have ordered some panel mount quick release fittings from Aircraft Spruce,  will fit them on the root rib and fit the fuel lines to them (2 each side - line to header tank and return line to top of tank).

Hi Bob,

Not sure, but an article on the Savannah VG puts them at 35 litres each.  The Sav also has a 7 litre header tank behind the passenger's seat (I'll be installing this too) so total fuel capacity will be 77 litres - about 20 gallons if I've converted correctly.

Henri, you're right, they would be heavier.  My choice is based on cost and availability rather than weight.  If I could have got a new set of Zenith tanks for $325 I would have!! :-)

Hi Marty

How many gallons do these tanks hold?

I like the way they fit.

I have compared those tanks to the original Zenair tanks and they come with some weight penalty!!

Sorry, not sure who the US dealers are - just google ICP Savannah and you'll find them!  Good luck.  Yes I got them mainly because of the cost of importing the Zenith ones, but they seem really well made and I prefer the way these are mounted too.  Plus because the Sav and 701 are so similar, the main support bracket's rivet holes even perfectly match the 701's rib holes (if you spaced them correctly!)

Might not be such a good price for me in the US.

What a great price even new. Do you know where I could get a pair? You got a great deal. I like that they are plastic also.

Lucky enough to get them 2nd hand but still in packaging - bloke had bought them as long range tanks but never made the kit, so was prepared to sell separately.  Paid $325 for the pair - new they are $580/pair.

Where did you get the Savannah tanks from and if you do not mind what was the cost?
