My father law has passed recently and has
Left experimental planes behind. We are having issues on selling them as we don’t know where to start. I think he was almost finished with them but who know. Does anyone know where I need to start? I figured they probably should be inspected? I live in Jacksonville FL does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

As others have stated, without the build logs, purchase receipt from the factory, and build pictures, the projects are not able to be registered by a new buyer - except for a very rare special exhibition category. EAA saved my skin on a purchase of a partial project. UNLESS the project was previously certified, then it's fine to sell w/o the trail of build documents, but the ownership trail must be proved.

Use the EAA sales documents too.

Just a heads up, critical to experimental airplanes are his work logs.  That is needed to document his build for registration.

Hey Gary!...I agree with Keith, 1st stop is your dad's local EAA  ( That's Experimental Aircraft Association) chapter. I can't help but wonder about his friends and  ' flying buddies ', seems they would have info on his projects and possibly could advise you in some ways. Obviously you will want to have a good idea of the value of individual components etc.  Very sorry for your loss, Good luck!

Thank you so much!

I’d start by contacting the nearest EAA chapter (experimental aircraft association). They’ll be able to take a look at the planes and give you an idea of value. They’ll also know of local folks who would be interested in purchasing.
