This week, 21 year old Ghanaian pilot, Patricia Mawuli Nyekodzi, who builds and maintains the Zenith aircraft for Medicine on the Move, is training ready to start flying doctors and nurses into the remote bush strips as they get approvals in Ghana.

In the picture above she sets up 9G-ZAF for finals to Kpong Airfield - we start work on the 500m strip, then work on the cross-wind runway at 300m, then we have our own 200m strip at the Rocky Farm site a couple of kilometers away. Rocky Farm is a real challenge. Tall trees on approach and departure, tree lined runway, only 8m wide useable strip at points, with rocks and gullies each side. Her calm confidence and calibrated movements on the controls help to make it all happen.

Like many of us, her first landings in the 701 are very long. In fact we ran out runway twice! But, as we all know, once you get the feel for it you can put the baby down in a few meters.

We wish Patricia all the best as she nears her first field mission!

Thanks Bob, but this one is staying in the nest - she is training as a flying instructor to take over my role... (ahhhh at last!).... Plan a visit to us, but leave the moose behind...

We get bear, moose and fox on our runway (New Hampshire, in far northeast USA).

Congratulations, Jonathan, on having one almost ready to kick out of the nest!!

No problem, Clay, just get yerself out here in the bush and we will work on it - missing the large reptiles as part of the challenge (we had a three foot long Monitor Lizard cross the runway yesterday....)

A real challenge. Keep up the good work and fly safe.
