Hi Patrick, a few 701 builders have done the modification. Check my plane and photos. You'll see thereone way of doing such a mod. Not difficult at all.

There is non from Zenith!  They were asked about this before and said they were looking at it... but don't hold your breath, that was back in February.  The 750 is more important to them... the 701 is old news!  Here is the 750 info - http://www.zenith.aero/profiles/blogs/new-stol-ch-750-features-intr...

If you want the beanie mod you will have to do it yourself... I have come up with a basic design after quite a bit of work!  I would like to do mine before I get too far with the fuselage.  The aluminum tubing used with the cabin frame has to be replaced with 4130 with a 4130 tube installed at the top rear of the cabin, if you want to do it right and remove the top diagonal!  The guys that have built the beanie have basically been designing, trail and error to get the shape by best fit on their aircraft!  There is no true design per say... only as built.  Norman Lambert was the most recent last fellow to do his!

Patrick, just search for "Beanie Mod" there are several of us 701 builders that have modified our flat roofs. I have pictures posted as well. Easy to do and It helps if you are tall.
