Viking CruZer passing published speeds with STOL wheels

Jon  is now flying his Zenith CH-750 CruZer with a Viking 130 engine. Operating from a short grass field, the airplane is not configured CruZer like but rather has BIG wheels and NO wheel pants. Basically a hybrid without any electric. The great news is the performance. Over 130 mph, even with the big wheels - congratulations to a great combination.…

The Viking powered Super Duty arriving at Sun N Fun 2018

Many years have gone by since the CH-701 was the "All Metal" ultralight STOL king.  With a small engine / all aluminum design, it was sure to become a hit.
Time goes by.  We all get huge from cow hormones and draft beer, yet want to get airborne.…

We will fly this propeller to Sun N Fun. Hope it increases the utility of many Zenith planes

A propeller where you can have it all.

  • Maximum climb for those local flights and grass strips
  • Maximum cruise when you fly from paved airport to paved airport
  • Adjustments are made in a few seconds

This adjustable propeller is legal for all pilots to operate.  No special skill is required and the entire blade rotate to the desired pitch, rather than twisting the…

Speed restrictions of a Light Sport compliant aircraft

So many ask the question of how to build an aircraft that a light sport rated pilot can fly.

Here is the answer to one typical speed question:

The speed of your completed airplane is dictated by it's overall configuration, not the engine. While it is true that Viking would like to show you how fast it could go, it is not true that you will automatically have this speed if you need to comply with a lesser speed.

The pitch of your ground adjustable propeller will give you…

Richard Jones making AVIATION HISTORY

After trying out the Corvair, Richard spent 6 months and some money to redo his airplane with a Viking 130 engine.  He made aviation history yesterday by being the first to fly a low winged Zenith aircraft with the Viking 130 engine model.  I spoke with him today and he could not stop talking about what a huge difference the engine has made to his airplane.  We hope to have a takeoff video from him shortly in order to get a before / after comparison to the airplane being powered with the…
