Threaded the bottom plate to 1/4-20. This eliminates the need for the inner steel ring and allows sealing w pro-seal prior to final installation

No, it is a tube type VDO 224-215.  It's approximately 5 3/4" in length.  The reading takes place inside the tube so not subject to sloshing errors.  Fuel enters the tube through small holes, top and bottom.
