There is a larger crimp just like this that can handle up to 12 gauge wires, there are something like 1000+ turret dies available! However I prefer the gold crimper from Daniels for the bigger wire sizes.

Yes, I used one of these crimpers on my Garmin avionics wiring and it works great. One of friends bought it but he could not find a used one so he bought it new. It was expensive but worth it IMO. Too bad the pins only go large enough to accept 20AWG wire.

So here is the way to make some good connections for your avionics. I first tried the stamped sub d pins, even with the correct crimp tool I wasn't happy with the results. I then found one of these tools for short money and bought the machined pins from spruce at .60 a piece. What a world of difference, I don't think I will ever use those stamped pins again.
