Had a coolant leak recently and while taking a look I came across this rubber part hanging off the expansion tank outlet between the tank and the hose while the other half (on the left in the pic) was moving freely not attached to anything.

After a bit of prodding the larger hole broke and the whole thing fell off. Looking at figure 75-13 on 75-00-00 it looks like it should have been on the hose but my part doesn't really look like the one in the figure at all.

Does anyone know what it is? Where it is supposed to be? Do I really need it? Without it, I can get the hose snug up against the tank and now my leak is gone, but I'm sure Rotax wouldn't have supplied this part if I didn't need it.

Thanks,

Paul

It goes under the tank between the tank and the engine / engine mount to prevent chafing.

Thanks David, that makes more sense than where I was picturing it going. I've found the part on CPS-parts so will try to get one for the weekend and put a new one on.

Yes, goes under the expansion tank to avoid chafing. My Rotax engineer glued it to the bottom of the tank with some silikon stuff. He said that the rubber falls off quickly if not glued on.
