Question for Jan
After installing the upgraded gearbox on the Viking 130, and the first start, I noticed that at idle rpm, (1200 rpm) the sight glass indicated the right amount of oil quantity with 8 oz. Is this a good way too check the oil quantity as I have never seen it mentioned before. See photo of sight glass.

The sight glass at this time shows at full 5 oz, it is more a sight gauge for the clarity of the oil, not the level. You will need to ensure you fill 3 oz extra, most gear oils have a measurement on the side when pouring in. -Alissa

Jan, the photo was taken with the engine at idle rpm, the gearbox has 8 oz  of oil, but appears as in the photo with the engine  running. My question; is this an accurate way to verify the quality (8oz).
