Hi,
Being new to installing solid rivets I am not sure what size air hammer I need to set the solid rivets in the spar. Zac said that I need a 4x power but the aircraft spruce catalog has 3x power hammers that are rated to set 3/16 rivets??? I would like to know what some of you fellow builders are planning to set your spar rivets with. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!! Thanks, Greg

Hi Greg
Mathieu Hientz recommended a 3X hammer so that is what I bought from Spruce. They have a kit that represents great value, http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/topages/profRivetingKit.php

I am no expert but as you have said, a 3X is listed as suitable for up to a 3/16 rivet. I tried mine out on a piece of pine and the power was fanomenal. I wil try a spare rivet with some scrap alloy and let you know how it goes.

Regards
Phill
