I have an Icom IC-210.

1. Volume control doesn't work.

2. I seem to transmit ok, but sometimes hear the tower 5x5 but sometimes barely at all. There seems to be no pattern.

Before I spend a fortune at the radio shop, I'd like to explore the possibility that I'm just doing something wrong.

Thanks for any ideas,

W

Is your ribbon cable between the face and head unit ok? It seems there are quite a few problems come from there.

Check the length of the cable between radio & antenna. It has to be cut on the 1/2 or full wave length or it messes up the signal. I forget the length right off the top of my head but I'm sure someone on this forum knows it. Its buried in all the info I have somewhere??? If it works in the radio shop & not in your aircraft, then its some thing in your install.
