I'm now finishing the dash and need a radio. I have a space 8"wide x 2" high x 6" deep available. anything longer hits the hinged survival gear box. behind the dash. Two radios that would fit are the xcom and trig. But I know little about either.  Any 2.5 inch round radio will work IF I notch the box, I need a reliable simple radio.  I really only use 2 channels  and no airport traffic here in Alaska. Any comments or suggestions, would be appreciated.  Bob Jones

I use a MGL V10 radio. It works reliably and has a built in intercom. The V6 is smaller and should fit in the space you have.

Ditto the V6 ... fits in 2 1/4 hole and weighs 240 gms and has been rock-solid reliable in my experience.

Thanks John I had not even considered the MGL, therir install manual cautions about cold weather, where are you and how many hours do you have on it ..thanks ..BOB

I've got 2 1/2 years and 280 hrs on it ... I've never seen a report of a problem with them ... or any MGL product for that matter - they seem to have very high quality control!

However, I do live/fly in a moderate, temperate climate (mid-east Tennessee). My plane is hangared and the OAT is rarely below freezing when I fly, and, of course, I do have cabin heat. Does MGL say how "cold" is "cold"???

John

John, the install manual says -20c which is -4f we can see -35f+ but I rarely fly past 0*f   ...BOB

Bob, I've got a V6. Call me if you're interested.

Ken, sorry I cant find your number in all my Zenith stuf..BOB

I've really good luck with my round Flight Line 760.  I'm using a Trig transponder and the quality has been great and customer support was good.

   I like my V-10.

Tim, thank you , I have been trying to get good and bad feed back on the MGL, I can fit the v6 in my dash , I have a lot of space but only about 6" depth...BOB
