I called Zenith the other day with a technical question and was having difficulty understanding Roger because of a whining noise in the background.  Finally, I asked him "what the heck is that noise?"  He said, "It's a Czech TJ-100."  "Why are you running a jet engine in the factory?", I asked.  Roger said, "I'm not supposed to talk about it, but we're strapping a pair on a 701 ... it's going to give near-VTOL performance!  We're looking at take-off rolls on the order of less than 10' and cruise speeds of 140 kts.   Unfortunately, due to adequate fuel capacity, reserves, and W&B concerns, it will only be a single-seat aircraft."  I pressed for further details, but that's all I could get out of him.

So, exciting news!  Roger later mentioned the new model will be the "701-J."  Please keep this information confidential as we don't want to spoil Zenith's announcement at Sun 'n Fun when it opens tomorrow! Pricing is yet to be determined but obviously this will be a well-into-6-figure kit!
