Hi friends!

I'd like to clean my Rotax engine and the engine bay waterless. Well, without much water that is. I don't have a water source at the airport and I am not really comfortable with spraying it with degreaser and power washing the engine like I'd do for a car. Perhaps I am paranoid.

The main goal, besides appearance, is to be able to see little oil leaks I have from time to time right away.

I do have a nice air supply though so what I am thinking is spray and blow away. Anybody does it? What kind of a solution should I use?

Thanks for any comments suggestions.

I've degreased engines with a siphon air gun - it uses compressed air to siphon-up degreaser solution and spray it onto the engine (obviously with sensitive electrical components, etc., protected!).  My favorite degreaser is "Extreme Simple Green," which meets the Boeing spec as safe for aircraft aluminum (NOT the "Simple Green" at Walmart!).  You could just bring a 5 gal container of water with you and then use the siphon gun to rinse the degreaser off after it has had a few minutes to work.  It is much gentler than a pressure washer and works great.
