When I move from left to right, there is some slop before the torque tube will move on the roll axis?
It seems like the AN3-17A bolt has play inside the C75C2-8 part.
Is this normal? how do you deal with this in flight. I don't know how you fly tiny with that much slop before the pressure effects it. Does the constant tend for a "Heavy wing" cause this to always have pressure in one direction?
Does anyone else notice this?
Yes, it appears normal. We added an additional washer on the bolt head side to snug it up a little. No noticeable issues in flight, and no heavy wing.
Hi Jonathan, I too asked my inspector AP about the tiny jiggle left/right before Flaperon deflection, as it concerned me. He was happy to approve, and stated I would not notice it in flight, and he was right. No heavy wing, but I did separate the Elevator action from the Torque Tube and further separate the up/down cables via small top/bottom offsets on my strengthened Elevator Bellcrank - I have no, in Fuselage bungee. My project flew true from the outset, and hardly needs a millisecond on the trim button either side of neutral. Apart from take-off and taxiing the Rudder doesn’t get much work either. A very forgiving design. A no Flaps engine idle Stall is fully broadcast via minor shudder around 40kts and at 38kts, vsi shows you are going down, no wing drop. With full Flaps on Final, my plane appears to stop ‘going forward’. Yesterday, I experimented with getting rid of height by slipping rather than applying full Flaps (which intimidate me a bit), and I think I’ll adopt that rule herein. I use half Flaps for Take-off and Landing on a regular basis. I’m at sea level on a long runway. My confidence is building, good luck to others. Cheers John
Has anyone found a way to address this? Looking at the video of the first flight I can see how I have to move my hand a ways to take in the slack when I am putting in roll input.
Have you confirmed all fasteners between the Y-stick and flaperons secure? Confirm your AN3-17A bolt is really a 17A? Is part C75C2-8 to long or to short? Maybe one or more of your parts were somehow manufactured with more clearance than intended, or somehow became oblonged? Lots of possibilities.
