I've enjoyed looking at all the really great photos everyone has submitted which has got me wondering on what type of camera you are using in the air to take these fantastic photos.

I have a Lumix (Panasonic) DMC-FZ28. It is a 10 megapixel with an 18 to 1 zoom lens. It has built-in mechanical image stabilization. The camera can also take HD movies. This is the third digital camera I have owned and is the best so far, and the cheapest. It has programmable settings which you can tweak to help minimize glare off the canopy.

I also keep some thin black rectangular foam on board which I got a the hobby store to help block glare. I also use the foam rectangles to block the sun which occasionally is right in your eyes on some unfortunate but necessary headings. I stick the foam to the canopy with small suction cups.
Yes, this is a great camera. I believe my brother has the same one and it takes outstanding HD movies (for a compact camera). I have the Lumix DMC-FX07, which is not as feature-rich as the FZ28, but is more compact - I can keep it in my pocket without a problem.
The reason we bought the Lumix / Panasonic is because of its wide angle lens. This allows us to photograph the full instrument panel / cabin area easily.

Good topic. Over the years we've tried a number of different cameras, with varying degrees of success, although that sometimes has more to do with the photographer than the hardware (camera). I'll post some of our experiences with the various cameras. Of course, many folks are now making videos and sharing them online. While a photo can be worth a thousand words, a cool video clip can leave you speechless.
Can anybody recommend a camera with GPS logging/on picture WGS84 co-ordinates? We currently use a time match on our camera and work a reference from the tag file from the GPS, but with new crews on flying doctor stuff we need to make it easier... any ideas?
NIKON D5000 GPS attachment permits camera to place coordinates on the image frame.
thnks - very helpful!
What is the best video camera to mount on the wing? Or is this even recommeded?
I think that needs a new thread - I will start it now (because we need it too!)! Great idea!
