Anybody install the optional 68k capacitor on the battery? Also, the UL manual says that extra protection circuits are not to be installed on the alternator but some have installed over voltage protection relay circuits. Can others enlighten me?

The ones for the UL at Wicks are 63v which kinda makes sense given the potential spikes in a battery failure scenario but I’ll check with Ray Lawrence.

Yup, 63 volts. I have one ready to go.

Thanks Robert.

What is the correct way to install the capacitor? I made some mods to my wiring and under cowl set-up. When reviewing the schematics for wiring the install for the capacitor does not make sense to me, nor do I understand the need for it. Would appreciate feedback on both install and purpose.

Talking with Ray Lawrence, the positive lead goes to the bus side of the contactor and the negative to the main ground. The capacitor smooths out the voltage to allow continued operation of the pumps and ECU given a dead battery, as long as the rpms are greater than 1000. I’m not an electronics guy but from what I’ve read and from what Ray says, I can see some of the theory.
