As a courtesy to others with active ads, if your item sells, please go back to your ad and edit the title and add "SOLD" to the title. So the ad will remain searchable, do NOT delete the title - just add SOLD to the end of the title. This prevents unnecessary inquiries from prospective buyers about an item that is no longer available! Also, those inquiries pull the inactive ad back up to the top of the forum topic list and "push down" active ads of items still for sale.

In most cases, don't delete the ad as it is still useful to give other potential advertisers an idea of asking prices, etc. If you have any problem with editing your ad title, don't hesitate to contact me via a private message..

I usually catch most of the ads that have sold and remind the member to edit the title and add "SOLD" if they have not already done so.  After a few days, if still not marked "SOLD," I will close the ad to further replies to keep it from being bumped up to the top above active ads.

Thanks,

John

Thanks to those who have cooperated and begun adding "SOLD" to their ad's title when their item sold!  Remember to simply add "SOLD" to the title, don't replace the title with "SOLD!"  This will help keep your ad more easily searchable when others are looking for examples of what's for sale/sold and pricing information, etc.

Also, when someone responds to your ad and details of the sale are to be worked-out, please don't do that by replying back-and-forth to your ad - use the Message system instead!  There are several reasons for this:

  1. Each time the buyer or seller responds to the ad with price negotiations, contact information, shipping logistics, etc., it pulls that ad up to the top of the Forum and "pushes down" other active ads which is unfair to those members.
  2. If you use the Message system rather than the Forum, your contact information, phone number, email, etc. is kept much more private and secure.
  3. Public negotiations on the Forum gives the impression that the item is sold.  It is not uncommon for negotiations to fail and the item is still for sale.  Keeping negotiations off the Forum will give the impression the item is still for sale and might help you get a sale in case the first potential buyer doesn't follow-through.
  4. However, it is perfectly OK for the seller to respond to their own ad to announce a price drop or other information!

Thanks for your cooperation!
