Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
Yesterday, I flew the 750 up to KCSV for their annual Open House and someone had a beautiful Howard airplane on display. (I don't know the model but I understand Howard was a manufacturer in the '30's and '40's.)
I was struck by the very neat and clean fairing that encompassed both struts at the strut/wing junctions:
Obviously these fairings are aluminum and not composite. I don't know how aerodynamically efficient these are, but they sure do appear to clean-up those fittings!
FWIW, the plane also had some very simple lift strut fairings:
Just thought I'd throw this out in hopes it gets someone's creative juices flowing. It's a potential project I might consider but I'm still in the preliminary stages of making composite fairings for the 750's struts/fuselage junction!
Confession: I was so interested in the fairings that I forgot to take a picture of the entire airplane ... but believe me, it was a beaut!
