Mine need replacing soon as they are starting to crack.  Are these a Zenith part?

Sonex sells a harder version of these rubber bushings that seem to last longer.

hi ernest,

yes mike is correct. i have a sonex waiex , and building a zenith cruzer.  the rubber mounts can be bought

thru jab usa which is now part of arion aircraft. Sonex sells a harder rubber version, so less sag, and we have ours in the tucson heat and no cracking.

go to the webstore.

best,

michael

For anyone looking, here are the ones sold by Sonex:

I have purchased the sonex bushings. Does anyone know what the torque should be on the nuts?

Ernest,

If you don't already have it, go out to jabiru.net.au and  under the Support tab, download the 3300 engine installation manual.  In there, you will see instructions on how install the bushings.  Basically, they say to tighten them "until firm."  There is no torque specified.

FWIW, the rubber bushings supplied by Jabiru USA (now Arion Aircraft) on my STOL 750 are 9 years old and 650 hrs TT.  They show absolutely no signs of deterioration or sag.  However, I do live in a moderate climate (East Tennessee) and the plane is kept in an insulated hangar and maybe that helps.  I don't know how much the "softer" bushings are responsible, if any, for the results, but I did a DynaVibe prop/engine balance and it balanced to 0.03 ips!  (Less than 0.1 is "good" and supposedly 0.07 is the limit of human perception of vibration.)

I apologize to you all for this off-topic reply, but John's reference to balancing is of interest to me.

I have a previously built 601, equipped with a Warp-Drive prop on a 3300 Jabiru.  John, did you purchase the DynoVibe balance equipment or is there someone local that provides the balance service.  BTW, I live in Columbia, Tn. and the plane is hangered in Lewisburg.

Dave

Hi Dave,

An out-of-state friend loaned me his DynaVibe.  I don't know of any local service in Tennessee, but a quick Google indicates that Viking Aircraft Engines has a loaner service for one week for $150 including return shipping.  You could also try contacting DynaVibe to see if that have a list of facilities that provide the service.

John

Thank John, I will follow up with Viking and Dynavibe.

Dave

Do you guys use grease when installing the mounts?
