Have you tried an independent aviation insurance broker? They do all the work and it costs you nothing extra.  Usually the agent will have credibility with the various companies and knows the underwriters - they can advocate for you to get the best possible deal.  I use Coley-Christian Aviation Insurance in Memphis, TN - great personal customer support!

Dean try Scott Smith, his information is on our website under "Partners" he really knows his stuff and frequently speaks at the Zenith Open House. I know a lot of people have had luck with Avemco as well, but I think similar to what John said sometimes best to use a broker.

I've used Ladd Gardner in Dallas for years. Worked really hard to get me insured in my last plane, a TW Sonex. Let's just say that my first flight in my Sonex was MY first flight in any Sonex, and my first flight was also my first SOLO tailwheel flight. I didn't have to have x hours of dual or a CFI checkout. Now, full disclosure, I was liability-only for Phase 1, but full coverage kicked in once I signed off on Phase 1. Of course, that was 8 years ago, and things have gotten "interesting" in the underwriting market these days.

Just to point it out - there is no requirement for aircraft insurance by the FAA. Some airports may require liability if you have a a hangar.

Thanks for the replies hopefully i will find insurance soon.

I use Falcon but recently received a flyer from  Matt White @ BWI agency. He is in your area, Corona.

I know nothing about them but may be worth a call.

Let everyone know how you do with coverage.

Hi Dean,

I use Falcon through EAA for insurance on the project and the hangar and I have been pleased with their service. I plan to get several quotes when I am ready to fly - hopefully soon! Larry Zepp, Zodiac N22LZ, Fort Wayne, IN
