Tim Juhl had an idea that might be fun for all invloved at Oshkosh next month. He suggested that we get the Zenith builders together for an informal campfire in Camp Schoeller camping area. There are electric aircraft demonstration flights at the ultralight area Tuesday evening but how far can you fly with an extesion cord???? There will be the Chicago concert on Monday and the EAA band will perform on Wednesday, Thursday is the Zenith builders' dinner, Lt. Dan Band on Friday and a twilighth airshow on Saturday so Tuesday night seems like the best time for it...

Any of you interested in doing that? Problems or suggestions? Any good ideas on how to get the interested folks to the correct location?

Sounds like a lot of fun to me. Just need a time and place. I can't offer a spot because I always have trouble finding a camping spot due to the number of people who rope off 50 acres for their personal use. I usually end up out by the highway.
You mean I can't rope off 50 acres or so for myself? ;-)

I don't know where my camper will be but I expect to arrive early on Sunday and will have my dad with me. His knee and hip joints will likely put us in the handicap camping area which appears to be fairly close to the main Airventure walk-in gate. If it works out that way, our camper ought to be a handy spot for an informal gathering. Timing can be very loosely structured. By 6PM or so, everybody should be ready to kick it back a notch so let's call that the start time for now. Anybody know if my camper's location can be obtained from the Airventure staff by those interested in dropping by?

Ed
Ed,

There is a camper locator card that they will give you when you check in. Fill that out after you find your spot and drop it in the boxes located around the campground. They will come around, collect them and put you in their database. Then anybody can come to the main camper locator kiosk and have your location looked up.
That sounds like an easy way to find the campfire. In the south, there would be three or four rednecks selling firewood out of the back of an old beater pickup. How do yankees get their firewood?
Ed,

Not sure how it is in Wisconsin, but in Ohio the Ash Borer (?) Beetle has us on a quarantine forbidding transportation of cut wood beyond our county line so I can't bring any. The camp store at Schoeller will be glad to sell to you at somewhat exorbitant prices. I also remember seeing some local shopping department parking lots with a few northern red necks selling firewood out of pickup trucks.
We'll keep an eye out for firewood sellin' yankee good ole boys. If enough folks want to get together after the show hours on Tuesday, we'll go ahead and do it at my campsite. If anybody else has a better site and wants to gather there, I will go with that.
So where is the party at? Camping in here since Saturday. See you
