Hi Larry, I know very little about the HDS so not sure what to say as I have an XL TD. I will answer any questions you may have to my best ability and knowledge.
I`m just getting started on my 640 buld and I`m very excited about it. You need to talk to Scott Stewart about his spreadsheet on the 640. This guy is wealth of information on the 640.
He created a 640 errata sheet thats a must have and a cost materials list for the aircraft also. he replied to me on my plane page you can find his link there
Here is a copy of the invoice from my last strut order from McMaster-Carr. If you struts are correct the placement of the rear attachment point has to be too close.
I'm sending you 3 photos of canopy prior to install while it was on the plane. It looks very similar to yours. Some of the gap on the side is needed for clearance for the canopy frame.
Hey Larry how's it goin!? I wish I was going to CC this month, I am going to the one in November down in Barnwell! Your project looks awesome! You're a bit ahead of me, so I'm sure I'll be askin' you plenty of questions!
Getting closer every day. Just got a 140 crank that was at standard. So i had it magnafluxed and all is well. So now I am able to get it polished, treaded and begin to close the lower engine. Also began working on the wiring and canopy. with any luck i may be able to finish by Christmas (just not saying what chrismas)
Larry I am working on the second wing i keep adding pics so you can see my progress. I try to do a couple of hours a night during the week. More on the weekends. I finished the bottom skin and wing tip. Now today I cut the top skin and added the stringers,

It's great to have someone to converse with on this project I think that's half the fun of building is sharing ideas etc. I am sure I will have many questions. I bought the kit from some old aviators who could not go any further on it. It's great to get back into building a plane like this. I have some pics of the arrival of the kit and setting up the garage on box I will send you an invite I need your email.
Just wondering how far you are on completing your corvair engine. Seems like you know all the secrets on contacting WW and Mark. Maybe you could let me in on the secrets.
Welcome. I'm just starting out too- received my plans yesterday. I'm plans-building a 750. I am in a position where I can only draw the templates on paper now (see my profile if you want), but later I'll glue the paper templates to my wood to cut my form blocks.
